MARS Group meeting

The Advisory Group on Market Surveillance (MARS) was established in 2003 to promote global trade and economic cooperation. The Group brings together all players involved (public authorities, manufacturers, retailers, importers, consumers, etc.) to increase transparency and attract attention to the role and responsibilities of public authorities in the chain of control. It has developed comprehensive guidance and serves as a forum of best practice and development of recommendation guidelines. 

This MARS Group meeting takes place to plan MARS Group meetings in 2024 and the modalities of implementing MARS work plan and WP.6 33rd plenary decisions in 2024. The attendance is expected by WP.6 MARS members, market surveillance authorities and experts.

The meeting will have a guest speaker, Lena Södergren, Vice President Verification of Conformity & Africa, Cotecna giving a presentation on “Market surveillance management tools for the African market”.  She is an experienced Director of Business Development with a demonstrated history of working in the international trade and government services (B2G) for one of the global industry leader in Certification and Inspection.  She will present tools that have been marketed on the African market in order to enhance market surveillance solutions.

Also, overview of the revision of Recommendations M and N and development of the General Market Surveillance Procedure (GMSP) will be given during the meeting.
