On 18 January 2023, the Special Envoy met virtually with H.E Dr. Mateus Malaga, Minister of Transport and Communication of Mozambique and Mr. Amilton Alissone, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication of Mozambique. Throughout the discussion, the Special Envoy introduced road fatalities and injuries as a development challenge globally and in the country; commended the Government for contributing to the African Road Safety Observatory and encouraged accession to the seven UN Road Safety Conventions. Lastly, the Special Envoy urged engagement with the UNRSF.
