European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN)

Consisting of the main legal text of the ADN and its annexed regulations, this publication contains provisions for the carriage of dangerous goods on board inland navigation vessels and tank vessels, as well as provisions concerning the construction and operation of such vessels. Inspections, certificates of approval, monitoring and training of experts are also covered.

Requirements and procedures for training and safety obligations of participants are also covered.

Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS)

The GHS provides a basis for harmonization of rules and regulations on chemicals at national, regional and worldwide level. It addresses classification of chemicals by types of hazard and proposes harmonized hazard communication elements, including labels and safety data sheets.

Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Model Regulations

The Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods have been developed to ensure the safety of people, property and the environment. They include the Model Regulations, which aim at presenting a basic scheme of provisions that will allow uniform development of national and international regulations governing the various modes of transport.

Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Criteria

The Manual of Tests and Criteria supplements the Model Regulations and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. It contains criteria, test methods and procedures to be used for the classification of dangerous goods.

CEVNI - European Code for Inland Waterways

European Code for Inland Waterways (CEVNI), adopted by Resolution No. 24 of the UNECE Working Party on Inland Water Transport, contains a set of harmonized rules for inland navigation, on the basis of which Governments and River Commissions in the UNECE region regulate the navigation on their respective river sectors. CEVNI covers signs and marks on vessels and waterways, visual and sound signals, rules of the road and berthing rules, as well as the prevention of water pollution and waste disposal from vessels.

Inventory of Main Standards and Parameters of the E Waterway Network - "Blue Book"

The "Blue book" establishes an inventory of existing and envisaged standards and parameters of E waterways and ports in Europe and shows the current inland navigation infrastructure parameters in Europe as compared to the minimum standards and parameters prescribed in the AGN Agreement. It can be used by governments and intergovernmental organizations as a basic instrument for monitoring the progress made in the implementation of the AGN.

Recommendations on Harmonized Europe-Wide Technical Requirements for Inland Navigation Vessels (Resolution No. 61)

"Resolution 61" contains a set of harmonized technical requirements for inland vessels, such as procedures and rules for the vessels’ inspection, shipbuilding requirements, fire protection, safety clearance, maneuverability, steering gear, wheelhouse, electrical installations, engine design, working spaces, crew accommodation, and special provisions for passenger, sea-going and recreational vessels.

SIGNI - Signs and Signals on Inland Waterways

Signs and Signals on Inland Waterways (SIGNI) establishes the harmonized signaling system for inland waterways, which is applicable to the inland waterways connected with inland waterways of international importance and which is harmonized with the maritime buoyage system. SIGNI covers bouyage and marking of the waterway, marking of permanent structures, blockage of the waterway, waterway signs and marking for prohibited or resticted zones.

General information on population, energy consumption in transport and road traffic accidents are also provided.

Combined Census of Motor Traffic and Inventory of Standards and Parameters on Main International Traffic Arteries in Europe in 2000

The 2000 Census of Motor Traffic is a unique compilation of road traffic data on main international roads in Europe. The Census shows the average annual daily traffic on the E-Roads of 37 European countries. It is available in paperback and CD-ROM.

The Illustrated Glossary is a joint publication of the UNECE, ITF, and Eurostat. It comprises 735 definitions and represents a point of reference for all those involved in transport statistics. By following the guidance contained within these definitions, a considerable contribution will be given to the improvement in both the quality and comparability of transport statistics data.

Handbook of Transport Statistics in the UNECE Region

This booklet contains selected data on the transport sector of a large number of UNECE member countries. It compiles for each country the length of motorways and roads as well as rail lines and inland waterways. It also contains data on the vehicle fleet and rolling stock, traffic volume by mode and road accidents.

Statistics of Road Traffic Accidents in Europe and North America

Now in its 51st edition, this bulletin contains basic statistics on road traffic accidents in Europe and North America. It is used by government services and officials for the analysis of accident patterns and for planning future improvements in road traffic saftey. It may also be of interest to a wider international audience given the enormous annual toll of road traffic accidents in the UNECE region.

Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be Used for such Carriage (ATP)

The objectives of the ATP are to facilitate international transport of perishable foodstuffs and to ensure a high level of preservation of the quality of perishable foodstuffs during their carriage. The ATP applies to the carriage of perishable foodstuffs performed on the territory of at least two Contracting States not only by road, but also by rail and by sea (sea crossings must be less than 150 km long). In addition, a number of countries have also adopted the ATP as the basis for their national legislation.

Joint Study on Developing Euro-Asian Transport Linkages

The study presents an in-depth evaluation of major land and land-cum-sea transport corridors between Asia and Europe and attempts to determine their potential viability. Country reports on highway, railway, and inland water transport networks and with relevant details on seaport connections for multimodal transport operations were prepared by the National Focal Points on the basis of the general work description and a uniform questionnaire.

The study aims to provide an approach that will permit an unbiased overview of existing infrastructure bottlenecks and missing links in the pan-European region.

TEM and TER Master Plan – Final Report
