UN/CEFACT announces release of Core Components Technical Specifications

UN/CEFACT Core Components Technical Specifications ready for production

Geneva, 26 August 2003
The Techniques and Methodologies Group (TMG) of the United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business, UN/CEFACT, which is based in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), announces the final release of its Core Component Technical Specification (CCTS), Version 2.0, prepared under the UN/CEFACT Open Development Process.

Using the UN/CEFACT Open Development Process, interested parties from around the world have collaborated in the design and verification of the Specification through actual implementation. However, one person, Mr. Michael Adcock of the UK delegation, made a very substantive contribution of the highest quality. Sadly, Mr. Adcok passed away on 26 May, before the specification had been verified. In honour of Mike’s contribution to UN/CEFACT over many years, the members of the core component team and all the officers of UN/CEFACT dedicate version 2 to his memory.

UN/CEFACT has a global remit and has led the development of international standards for electronic transactions for government, commerce and industry. Its experience and ability to bring together world class experts and match trends in information technology with business requirements, in an open and transparent way, gives UN/CEFACT a unique viewpoint.
