User-friendly version of the Benchmarks for the implementation of the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents

Published:
Since 2008, all assistance activities under the Assistance Programme are based on the Strategic Approach. The Strategic Approach is designed to enhance the efforts of participating countries in the implementation phase of the Programme and to grant sustainability in the countries of the activities organised.
The Approach outlines six working priority areas of high priority – that correspond to the main obligations under the Convention – and two cross-cutting areas. In order to identify the work that needs to be done in the above mentioned areas, each country should apply a step-wise/cyclic mechanism to each of the six working areas and identify their challenges in the implementation of the Convention as well as needs-driven actions to address these challenges.
Benchmarks have been developed for each working area. This publication contains a revised and user-friendly version of the 2010 Benchmark document. This version, with enhanced graphics and clickable tables, contains indicators and criteria that will guide countries in their self-assessment and in the preparation of action plans and project proposals.
Versions in word format of the tables under chapters 6, 7 and 9 are available under tools of the Assistance Programme https://unece.org/tools-and-templates
