The small group on mine tailings safety, comprised of members of the Industrial Accidents Convention’s Bureau and Working Group on Implementation and of the Joint Expert Group on Water and Industrial Accidents, will convene to discuss their recommendation for the Conference of the Parties regarding an update to the Guidelines to facilitate the identification of hazardous activities for the purposes of the UNECE Industrial Accidents Convention (ECE/CP.TEIA/38/Add.1), in view of the hazards and risks arising from tailings management facilities. It will aim to finalize components of two draft documents to submit to the Bureau for the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
