Round the World Round Table

On 2 August 2019, the Special Envoy participated in the round table where the Government of Ecuador presented a commitment and intention of the Ministries of Transportation and Public Works, Interior, Tourism, and Public Health as well as the transit authorities, municipalities, police, and judicial system — to work together to improve road safety awareness in the country.
In his speech, the Special Envoy welcomed the Government’s commitment to improving the situation, given that Ecuador is ranked among eight poorest performing countries on road safety in the region. He further commended the Global Alliance of NGOs for their efforts to encourage government’s action as well as encouraged the Government to deliver its engagementt at the upcoming Ministerial Conference for Road Safety in Stockholm.
Mr. Álvaro Guzmán Jaramillo, Executive Director of the National Road Safety Agency, Mr. Iván Carvallo, Vice-Minister of Transportation and Ing. Paul Hernández, Secretary of Transportation participated in the round table.
