On 10 April, the Special Envoy participated in the 2nd Meeting of the Consultative Committee, aimed at the preparation for the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference, which will be hosted by the government of Sweden in February 2020.
In his opening speech, the Special Envoy commended the leadership of the government of Sweden and WHO, supporting the suggestion to establish a high-level panel focused around road safety financing. He further presented a new Head of the UN Road Safety Trust Fund, suggesting for the Fund’s leadership to be a key partner in the financing sessions, along with the World Bank. In conclusion, the Special Envoy made his recommendations on the Declaration, reiterating his commitment to making the 2020 Conference a success.
