Amendments to the TIR Convention

The Secretary General of the United Nations, in his capacity as depositary has informed of the following depositary notifications, issued with regard to a number of proposed amendments to the TIR Convention:

    1. Depositary Notification C.N.623.2003.TREATIES-1 (English, French) with regard to an amendment to Article 26, paragraph 1 of the TIR Convention;

    2. Depositary Notification C.N.630.2003.TREATIES-2 (English, French) regarding the deletion of Explanatory Note 0.38.1 of Annex 6 relating to Article 38, paragraph 1 of the TIR Convention;

    3. Depositary Notification C.N.645.2003.TREATIES-3 (English, French) with regard to the insertion of a new subparagraph (f) to Explanatory Note 2.2.1 (b) of Annex 6 relating to Article 2, paragraph 1 (b) of Annex 2 of the TIR Convention.


In accordance with the provisions of Article 59, paragraph 3 of the TIR Convention, the proposed amendment to Article 26, paragraph 1 will enter into force on 19 September 2004, unless not later than 19 June 2004 a State being a Contracting Party to the TIR Convention has communicated its objection to the proposed amendment to the Secretary General of the United Nations.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 60, paragraph 1 of the TIR Convention, the proposed deletion of Explanatory Note 0.38.1 and the proposed insertion of a new subparagraph (f) to Explanatory Note 2.2.1 (b) of Annex 6 will enter into force on 7 November 2003, unless not later than 7 August 2003 the Secretary General of the United Nations has been notified of a sufficient number of objections to the proposals.
