The UN system’s engagement in the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held from 30 November – 11 December 2015 in Paris, will be coordinated through the HLCP Working Group on Climate Change. The Working Group brings together, under CEB, more than 40 UN system organizations in support of Member States’ efforts to take action on climate change in the context of sustainable development.

UNECE will take part in the COP21 as a driving force in combating climate change in the pan-European region transforming global goals into practical solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation and working in areas such as environment, transport, trade, sustainable energy; housing and land management; forest or statistics.

One UN Exhibit Area at COP21

COP21 will see a “One UN Exhibit Area”, consisting of thirteen interactive thematic booths that bring together several agencies around key issues such as sustainable energy, industry, climate finance, women’s empowerment, education, climate science and human mobility. Featuring a common design, the joint exhibit will allow delegates to explore how diverse UN system entities are supporting Member States “as one” with their collective expertise and services.

UNECE, together with the World Health Organization will exhibit at thematic booth: Healthy People on a Healthy Planet.

UNECE will have a significant participation in three of them showing its expertise in water management for adaptation and mitigation of climate change; housing and land management solutions for cities; and climate change agreements for public health.
