Issue-based Coalition on SDG Data and Monitoring

The Issue-based Coalition on SDG Data and Monitoring was created to coordinate the collaboration and partnership with regional actors from the UN system, and beyond in Europe and Central Asia. It strengthens coordination between the statistical work of the different agencies to ensure coherence and synergies at the country level, as well as with the work at the regional level carried out under the Conference of European Statisticians and EuroStat towards ensuring that the UN system provides comprehensive and effective support to governments, aligned to the provisions of the UN Statistical Commission, responsible for ensuring reporting on SDGs at the global level.

Terms of reference and work plan:

  • Develop a generic outline/template for national road maps for measuring SDGs
  • Develop guidance for National Statistical Offices for an effective communication strategy
  • Take up issues raised with regard to national reporting platforms
  • Better understand data flows between National Statistical Offices, custodian agencies, and the UN Statistical Division
  • Address the significant need for statistical capacity-building
