SAN MARINO
San Marino

 

Tomaso Rossini was elected a member of the Council in November 2009 and reconfirmed in 2014 when he assumed the position of the secretary of Council. In 2018, he was sworn as the Captain of the Castle, leader of the Council Committee. Together with other members of the Committee, he worked on projects aimed at improving life in the community, including through initiatives such as rediscovery of the historical centre, urban regeneration, and through entertainment for children. Since 2009, the Council has been working on providing free WiFi in the historical centre, improvement of services for senior citizens, and compliance to Agenda 21 by classifying public buildings according to energy use. Mr. Rossini is an active participant in the Forum for Dialogue under the patronage of the Council of Europe. Since 2017, the Council is successfully implementing a door-to-door recyclable waste collection strategy.

Mr. Rossini works on urban sanitation and network marketing; and in line with his commitment to community work and volunteering, he is the President of Cultural Association, which promotes youth projects and cultural development for San Marino.

MONTENEGRO
Podgorica

 

Ivan Vukovic was born on 17th September 1984 in Podgorica, where he finished Elementary and High School.

 

He has finished Bachelor and Specialist studies as one of the best students (average grade was 9,7) at the Faculty of Political Sciences – University of Montenegro (Study program- International cooperation and diplomacy). During his studies, just before the Referendum for Independency in 2006, he was one of the students’ representatives in the Movement for Independency of Montenegro. 

 

After his Specialist studies, he worked as an intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro. He finished Master studies in 2008 at the University of Leiden in The Netherlands. In his return to Montenegro, he worked as collaborator at the studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences - University of Montenegro.

 

From September to November 2013 he conducted researches for his PhD at the University of Harvard. In July 2014, he got his PhD (cum laude) at the Central European University in Budapest. In November 2015, he was named assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences. Since then, he has also been named the Vice Dean for the international relations at the same Faculty.

 

School year 2016 / 2017 he was at the George Washington University as the first Fulbright Post-Doctoral student from Montenegro. During his stay in America, he lectured at the same University.

 

Mr. Vukovic is the author of several publications in international magazines.

GEORGIA
Tblisi

 

Maia Bitadze is Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi. She graduated from Tbilisi State University International Law School in 1999 with Honors and was awarded with the Doctorate Degree in Law later, in 2007 after defending thesis in the field of Environmental Human Rights Law.

Ms. Bitadze is the Associate Professor of the Environmental Law at Tbilisi State University and the Caucasus School of Law, she is also invited lecturer at the Georgian University and Grigol Robakidze University. She had worked as a legal expert for the various international organizations, such as are UNDP, OSCE and FAO, focusing on the Environmental topics. Ms. Bitadze has also hold the positions in the governmental institutions of Georgia such as the Parliamentary Committee of the Environment and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, among them in 2011- 2014 she worked as a Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry.

Ms. Bitadze was engaged in various training courses during 2004-2008, including the “Human Rights, Law and Ethics” at the Central European University St. Budapest, Hungary; United Nations Law of the Sea Tribunal Summer Academy St. Hamburg, Germany; Introduction to European Community Law (EUSP), Tbilisi, Georgia; Study visit to the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights. Strasbourg, France; European Integration Processes (UNDP), Tbilisi, Georgia; Workshop within the Stockholm Convention about National Action Plan – Ministry of Environment and National Resources Protection of Georgia, Tbilisi; the European Court of Human Rights Seminar-2004-Acts Law Institute, Tbilisi; Georgia legislative systems, in Tbilisi (UNDP); and Notary, Civil and Commercial Law – Ministry of Justice. Georgia, Tbilisi.

Ms. Bitadze is the Chair of the Bureau of the Meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention and the Chair of the working group of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention, was Deputy Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia (2014-2017) and to date is Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Georgia.

SLOVENIA
Celje

 

Bojan Šrot was first elected as the mayor in 1998 and re-elected for the sixth time in 2018. Under his leadership, Celje progressed in every aspect, and with fast and diverse development, the city strengthened its relationship with the EU.

Bojan Šrot studied law and graduated in 1985. He has his own law office. As a student he was an active alpinist.

He worked as a judge, lawyer, and became a state secretary at the Ministry of Justice, covering the field of judicial administration as a deputy minister. For two years he was the chairman of Slovenska ljudska stranka (The Slovenian People’s Party.)

During Mr. Šrot’s time at the office, the key areas of policy focus have been ecology, preservation of natural and cultural heritage, and tourism.
