Round table on increasing the investment potential of the BRICS and Central Asian countries through UNFC and UNRMS

17 September 2019
Tyumen Russian Federation

With the support of the Russian Federation, UNECE has been implementing a project entitled “Improving national capacities of Central Asian countries to harmonize and implement an internationally applicable system of classification and sustainable management of energy and mineral resources”. Under the auspices of this project, national assessment reports from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were presented at the Resource Management Week in Geneva (29 April-3 May), and case studies on the application of UNFC to particular energy and mineral projects in these countries are under development.

As part of the project, UNECE has organized, jointly with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and Federal Agency for Mineral Resources, a roundtable on increasing the investment potential of the BRICS and Central Asian countries through application of UNFC and UNRMS, to discuss these case studies and follow-up actions to implement policy recommendations on application of the national UNFC systems.

The roundtable took place on 17 September 2019 during the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum (17-19 September 2019), and was a concluding event in the framework of this project implementation.
