27th Meeting of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration

On 11 April, the Special Envoy delivered his remarks at the opening of the meeting, summarizing achievements since the beginning of his mandate, such as inclusion of road safety in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Agenda and New Urban Agenda as well as growing engagement and collaboration of UN Regional Commissions.
He also emphasized an increase in accession to the core United Nations road safety conventions, stronger commitment of high-level government and a recent establishment of the UN Road Safety Trust Fund, aimed at supporting Member States’ road safety efforts globally.
The Special Envoy concluded by encouraging relevant stakeholders’ support the Trust Fund and calling for continued collaboration between public and private sector as well as academia and civil society, leading up to the end of the Decade of Action for road safety 2011-2020.
