Prof. Johan Eklund

Managing Director, Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum and Professor at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) and Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) 

Prof. Eklund received his doctorate in economics at JIBS in 2008. He is also affiliated to Indiana University, School of Policy and Environmental Affairs and Institute for Development Studies, US. Eklund has 50 publications, of which approximately 25 percent is peer reviewed articles. Eklund's main research interests concern the relationship between institutions – in particular regulations - and their long-term effects on economic development and growth. He also has broad interests in industrial economics, institutional economics and law and economics. Johan also conducts research in the area of regulatory economics and more recently also economics of education/human capital. Recent research interests include entrepreneurship and how institutions and the regulatory environment affect entrepreneurship. Prof. Eklund’s research is naturally positioned towards both academic and policy audiences. Previously, Eklund was a researcher at Ratio Institute, and has also been guest researchers at George Mason University. He also served as Associate Dean at Jönköping International Business School. He was also the Deputy Head Secretary of “the Entrepreneurship Committee” on how to improve conditions for entrepreneurship and business climate in Sweden, set up by the Swedish Government.
