Every year, some 1.3 million people are killed and up to 50 million people are injured on the world’s roads. Half of all road traffic deaths are among vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. To generate more momentum for concerted efforts across the UN system, the Special Envoy convened the 3rd United Nations Partnership Meeting for Road Safety on 29 October 2019 in Geneva. 20 United Nations organizations and departments shared updates on their current and future road safety efforts and priorities.




  • The Special Envoy participated in the International Transport Forum (ITF) 2019 Summit, which brought together more than 1,000 delegates and distinguished speakers from over 70 countries around extensive deliberations on Transport Connectivity for Regional Integration.
