Customs-2-Customs (C2C) electronic exchange of information could greatly support risk assessment for transit operations and, ultimately, facilitate legitimate trade, improve and secure border crossing as well as reduce related costs. This was one of the findings of a workshop jointly organized by UNECE and the Georgia Revenue Service in Tbilisi on 22-23 June, which gathered delegations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Participants also pointed out that internationally standardized Business-2-Customs (B2C) electronic message for transit not only facilitate the submission of information by the business community but also the exchange of data among customs administrations. Participants stressed the importance of such workshops to exchange experiences and best practices.
Experts from the European Commission, the Georgian International Road Carriers Association (GIRCA), the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) also contributed to the workshop.
