The United Nations Road Safety Fund is delighted to announce that two new donors have joined the United Nations Road Safety Fund. Welcome to Essilor, the world’s leading ophthalmic optics company, which officially joined the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) through a generous US $ 200,000 cash contribution!  We are pleased to also welcome the Republic of Mauritius to our growing family of donors. Their support to the Fund will allow us to continue to finance projects that will save lives on the road around the world. Each step forward for more safety roads is worthy of celebration!

The donor investment allows the UN Road Safety Fund to finance strategic interventions following its strategy, the

Global Framework Plan of Action for Road Safety. Partnerships remain crucial to the Fund’s modus operandi and allow the UNRSF to become an enabler for achieving the road safety targets of the SDGs by acting as a facilitator between investors, governments, UN organizations and empowered implementation partners. The Fund’s business model of pooled financing is a departure from traditional financing efforts and its biggest promise lies in its ability to facilitate the achievement of the SDGs.

About the Road Safety Trust Fund

Established in April 2018, the United Nations Road Safety Trust Fund aims to contribute to two major outcomes, assisting UN Member states to (a) substantially curb the number of fatalities and injuries from road traffic crashes, as well as (b) reduce economic losses resulting from these crashes. Building on the best practices and expertise developed through the Decade of Action for Road Safety, the Trust Fund will focus on supporting concrete actions helping to achieve the road safety-related targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Secretariat of the Fund is hosted by UNECE.
