The Special Envoy attended the Annual WEF Meeting, marking the international institution’s 50th anniversary.

This year’s forum was themed Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World and it attracted 2,800 participants from more than 118 countries and from large corporates to development organizations and academia.

The WEF Annual Meetings in Davos engages the world's leaders on issues that shape the global, regional and industry agendas.

While in Davos, the Special Envoy had bilateral meetings with high-level government officials as well as the newly appointed President of the Asian Development Bank, calling for coordinated action on road safety and encouraging support to the UNRSF. 

The Special Envoy met with the following high-level stakeholders in Davos: 

o President Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan

o Ms. Penny Abeywardena, Head of the Mayor Office for International Affairs of New York City

o Mr. Masatsugu Asakawa, President of the Asian Development Bank

o Mr. Sun Chanthol, Minister for Public Works and Transport of Cambodia

o Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic

o Secretary Elaine L. Chao, United States Secretary of Transportation
