Every Journey, Every Child International Conference, London

On 4 October, the Special Envoy delivered his remarks at the opening session of the Conference, alongside Lord Robertson, Mayor of Accra, Mr. Mohammed Adjeh Sowah and Ms. Zoleka Mandela. In his speech, the Special Envoy highlighted child health and urban mobility as key outcomes of improved road safety, and urged rigorous action to tackle growing road safety crisis. The Special Envoy emphasized global frameworks, such as 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement and New Urban Agenda and encouraged their use in building effective partnerships and implementing solutions to resolve existing road safety challenges. The Conference was organized by the FIA Foundation and the Child Health Initiative Coalition with the aim to promote a child rights agenda for safe and healthy urban mobility. The conference brought together international participants working on road safety and air quality, and was supported by the Mayor of London, who set out ambitious plans for a ‘healthy streets’ strategy including safe walking and cycling  and measures to reduce air pollution.
