PROBLEMS WITH PDF FILES?

The UNECE Transport Division does its utmost to facilitate efficient communication with all users of our web site. To this end, most of the documents posted on our web site are saved also in pdf format. To open and download the documents in this format, users will need to have the software programme Adobe Acrobat Reader from Adobe Systems Inc. installed on their PC's. This programme can be downloaded free of charge from the web site of Adobe Systems: http://www.adobe.com.

However, in some cases it occurs that documents posted on our web site do not open correctly, even with the software from Adobe Systems. In such cases users will normally see a blank screen where the document should have appeared.

Should this situation occur we recommend users to try the following alternative steps:

1. Attempt to re-open the document in question by using the Refresh (Internet Explorer). Other browsers have similar functions that might be named differently.

2. In case the document still does not open after attempting to re-open it, the alternative is to download the document to your local PC. This is done by pointing the mouse pointer at the document icon, clicking on the right button (a pop-up menu will appear) and choosing the function "Save Target as" (Internet Explorer). Other browsers have similar functions that might be named differently. After saving the document in a directory on your local PC, leave the Internet browser and go to the local PC directory where the document has been saved and open the document from here.

In case users are not able to open our documents using one of the described procedures, we recommend that you contact us to obtain the document in question and to inform us about the problem.
