Mission statement

The mission of the Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30) is to guide the process of harmonizing and simplifying the requirements for border crossing procedures for the various modes of inland transport in the countries of the UN/ECE region. It provides a forum to consider and to undertake inter-governmental activities of a policy, legal, administrative, documentary, technical, economic and environmental nature. In particular, the Working Party prepares, reviews, modifies and administers a large number of United Nations conventions and agreements in the field of border crossing facilitation. The Working Party also contributes to combating fiscal fraud resulting from simplified Customs and other border crossing procedures. The Working Party in close co-operation with other inter-governmental organizations, as appropriate, seeks to provide assistance to UN/ECE member States in this respect. Furthermore, the Working Party pursues a dialogue with interested and competent representatives of the business community and non-governmental organizations in order to provide UN/ECE Governments with the best possible foundation to facilitate Customs procedures affecting transport.
