The Secretary-General of the United Nations, in his capacity as depositary, had issued, on 11 October 2016, depositary notification C.N.748.2016.TREATIES-XI.A.15 informing of the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Customs Convention on Containers, 1972. In accordance with its Article 19, paragraph 2, the date of entry into force of the Convention for the Republic of Moldova is 11 April 2017. The accession of the Republic of Moldova brings the number of Contracting Parties to the Container Convention to forty.
