The computerisation of TIR and the security declaration in the European Union 1 October 2007 During the 117th session of the Working Party on Customs Questions affecting Transport (WP.30), the European Commission gave a presentation of the EU initiative to lodge the TIR Carnet data electronically, which will become obligatory as of 1 January 2009 as well as on the obligation to provide an electronic cargo declaration on import and export from the EU, which will enter into force on 1 July 2009. The UNECE secretariat has been requested to post the presentation on its website for information.
