Workshop on "Trade, Business and Investment in a Wider Europe"
to be held in Salle XX, Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva (Switzerland)
on 7 April 2003

The Workshop will address the issue of wider integration in the region in the context of EU enlargement and the WTO trade negotiations. These events pose many key questions for governments, the business community and students and scholars of European integration.

These issues include:

• What will be the consequences of the EU's enlargement for the region's prosperity?
• What will be the effects of enlargement on trade and foreign direct investment, both on acceding and on non-acceding countries?


• What trade facilitation arrangements would be most desirable in the new trading environment?

These issues will be discussed with the objective of strengthening economic cooperation among all the relevant partners through a better understanding of the future shape and direction of European economic integration in the next decade.
