The Multiplier Point Programme: How is information distributed?

To disseminate its information, the UNECE works closely with local, regional and national governmental and private organizations involved in trade, industry and enterprise development. Participating institutions are selected based on their ability to reach potential users of the information distributed, and to maintain close contact with the UNECE secretariat in Geneva.

UNECE Multiplier Points enjoy privileged access to UNECE's documents and publications and to an electronic mailing list. They are entitled to translate these documents and publications into their national language and charge recipients to recuperate their costs. They may also purchase UN publications and products at a reduced rate and sell them locally for approved prices.

Their main responsibility is to promote and distribute these materials to potential users in the public and private sector. They are required to report the number of copies of documents and publications that they have distributed and/or sold, and to publicise, free of charge, UN events of relevance to their members/clients/audience.
