Standards and metadata

We work with groups of experts to create, improve, implement and evaluate standards for statistical production. The use of standards ensures that common definitions and processes are used within and between statistical organizations, helping to remove the barriers to collaboration on technical projects, fostering the sharing of knowledge and experiences, and serving as the basis for streamlined statistical production.  Our work in this area includes, in particular, standards for metadata, since efficient use and sharing of data relies on metadata to guarantee that everyone has the same understanding of the information and processes to produce official statistics.

Work in this area covers topics such as:

  • Quality indicators
  • Metadata glossary
  • Standards for linked open data/metadata
