We are the Statistical Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and we developed this project together with United Nations Development Programme. As the Secretariat for the Conference of European Statisticians, we have worked in gender statistics for many years. In 1985, gender statistics became a separate field of statistical work - with its own objectives and outputs - in the Conference's Work Programme. Since that time, we have organised meetings with experts in this field every 2-3 years. Refer to this page for information about recent and future meetings.
By offering a forum for gender statisticians, the Conference has contributed significantly to the conceptual development of the field and its institutionalisation into the work of many statistical offices.
The UNECE Statistical Division is active in the production of gender statistics resources, in particular, training materials for statisticians and users of statistics. Presentations and papers about gender statistics are available on the various meeting websites.
