The following steps can describe the production process of gender statistics from the identification of needs to the dissemination of results:

Users and producers
Identification of gender issues and goals
Identification of relevant statistics
Evaluation of data sources and identification of data needs
Analysis, presentation, and dissemination
Evaluation of output

 

The complete production process of gender statistics can be summarised in a simple and concise way by using a flowchart. The Gender Statistics Unit of Statistics Sweden developed this flowchart in the early 1990s.
