The Bureau reviewed household survey methods in-depth in November 2011, and concluded that household surveys are important building blocks of national statistical systems and need to be better integrated with other sources. The Bureau asked the upcoming meeting on data collection to also deal with household surveys and to prepare a list of available resources on this topic. The paper was submitted to the CES 2012 plenary session for information.
Outcome of the review
The Bureau postponed the decision on further activities related to household survey methods until after the data collection meeting has taken place.
The seminar on New frontiers for statistical data collection discussed among other topics household surveys. A seminar on Statistical Data Collection held on 25 - 27 September 2013 discussed several issues related to household survey methodology, for example survey integration and the work of the ESSnet on Data Collection for Social Surveys Using Multi Modes.
