In-depth review on ...
The Bureau reviewed housing statistics in-depth in February 2009, and asked the secretariat to carry out a survey on housing statistics among the CES members to find out about the priority areas of housing statistics where future work might be undertaken at international level. The Conference discussed the results of the consultation and the review paper in June 2009.
Outcome of the review
The secretariat carried out a survey on housing statistics in April-May 2009 with replies from 42 countries and three international organizations. The survey did not bring up a clear priority area in housing statistics where international work should be undertaken. The survey showed, however, that a standard international set of definitions, accounting procedures and guidelines should be established.
In October 2009, based on the survey results the Bureau decided that there is no urgent need to establish activities in housing statistics in addition to the activities already undertaken at other fora. Housing statistics will be kept on the list of follow-up items and the Bureau will come back to the topic in the future.
