In-depth review on ...
In October 2009, the Bureau reviewed in-depth government finance statistics (GFS), fiscal and public sector statistics, and called for more cooperation between international agencies active in GFS. The Bureau members noted that training and technical assistance on GFS to countries with developing statistical systems would be beneficial. The Conference was informed of the outcome in June 2010.
Outcome of the review
The Bureau decided not to launch new activities under the CES other than capacity building to improve GFS implementation:
- Joint IMF/EFTA/UNECE workshop on Links between Government Finance and National Accounts Statistics for East Europe and Central Asian countries, 2-6 May 2011, Vienna, Austria.
- Joint IMF/EFTA/UNECE seminar on the links between Government Finance Statistic and the National Accounts , 20-22 November 2013, Istanbul, Turkey.
In June 2010, IMF reported to the Conference of its plans to establish a group of experts on government finance statistics which has now published a draft of the updated manual, Government Finance Statistics Manual to bring it in line with 2008 System of National Accounts (SNA), the Balance of Payments Manual 6th edition and Public Sector Debt Statistics: Guide for Compilers and Users.
