On 10 November 2017, the Special Envoy addressed the participants of the regional workshop on housing and urban development hosted during the UNECE’s 78th Session of the Committee on Housing and Land Management. During the speech, the Special Envoy gave an overview of road safety elements in urban transport and mobility and encouraged their consideration during urban development efforts. The Special Envoy highlighted the New Urban Agenda, the implementation of which could play a large role in ensuring that mobility is safe and sustainable. He further shared a few examples of City initiatives, where prioritizing safety yielded positive results towards more liveable and resilient cities.
