Advocacy at the International Transport Forum Event in Leipzig

The Special Envoy participated in the International Transport Forum (27- 29 May) Annual Summit in Leipzig, which gathered Transport Ministers from 57 countries, CEO’s and business leaders, heads of international organisations as well as leading researchers to exchange ideas on global transport.
The Special Envoy recalled that while high-income countries continue to reduce death and injury on their roads, the situation continues to worsen in low and middle income countries.  “To see a reduction in road traffic fatalities, national governments will need to agree on a number of defined, measurable and achievable road safety targets at the Second High Level Conference in Brazil in  November”, he said.
He held bilateral meetings with the German and Tunisian Ministers of Transport to discuss the Ministerial Conference.
