Ensuring decent and affordable housing for all

The Geneva UN Charter on Sustainable Housing endorsed by UNECE supports member States as they seek to ensure access to decent, adequate, affordable and healthy housing for all. Centres of Excellence in Vienna, Tirana, Tallinn and Glasgow support the implementation of the Charter through training, studies and concrete projects on the ground to improve the quality of life in cities.

 

UNECE Country Profiles on on urban development, housing and land management provide practical recommendations on housing provision and affordability, management and maintenance of the housing stock, energy efficiency in housing, housing finance, smart sustainable cities, and the legal and institutional framework. Over 70 national policy documents (laws, strategic programmes and action plans) have been developed and/or updated by UNECE member States based on these Country Profiles.
