Election of one TIRExB replacement member

1 December 2011
At its fifty-first session (Geneva, 3 February 2011) the TIR Administrative Committee (AC.2) elected nine (9) members of the TIR Executive Board (TIRExB) for the term of office 2011–2012. However, one TIRExB member (Mr. V. Luhovets from Ukraine) informed the TIR Secretary on 28 November 2011 that he can no longer continue his functions as a TIRExB member. In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of TIRExB, in case a member of the TIRExB resigns before the completion of his/her mandated term of office, a replacement member shall be elected by AC.2 as soon as possible. The replacement member shall only hold office for the remainder of the term of office of the current TIRExB composition (viz. until the next elections in February 2013). In line with the mandate given by AC.2 at its fifty-second session (Geneva, 6 October 2011), the UNECE secretariat is soliciting herewith candidates willing to stand for election for one vacant seat in the TIRExB. The election will take place on Thursday, 9 February 2012, in the course of the fifty-third session of AC.2, in accordance with the established procedure (TRANS/WP.30/AC.2/59, paras. 24-27).
The name and present function of the candidate your Government may wish to nominate, together with a detailed curriculum vitae of the nominated candidate, should be received by the UNECE secretariat at the latest on 6 January 2012 (Attention: Mr. Konstantin Glukhenkiy, Office 401-3, Palais des Nations, CH-1211 Geneva 10; e-mail: [email protected]; fax: +41-22-917-0039).  Following receipt of the names of candidates, the UNECE secretariat will circulate, on 9 January 2012, a list of all nominated candidates to the Contracting Parties to the Convention. No further candidates may be nominated following the issuance of this list by the UNECE secretariat.
Please make sure that the nomination letter includes the phrase confirming that your government agrees to finance the work of your member of the TIR Executive Board (if elected), in accordance with the provisions of Explanatory Note 8.13.1-2 of the Convention.
