Task Force on the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems Nexus
The Task Force on the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems Nexus is responsible for the preparation of the thematic assessment on the water-food-energy-ecosystems nexus in transboundary basins which is a part of the Programme of Work under the Water Convention for the period from 2013 to 2015.
The work of the Task Force seeks to address, through improved understanding, problems related to low coherence and a lack of integration between sectoral policies, which result in negative impacts on the status of shared waters. The aim of the nexus assessment is to identify intersectoral synergies that could be further explored and utilized in selected transboundary river basins, and to identify policy measures and actions that could reduce tensions between sectoral objectives, avoid unintended consequences of resource management and resolve trade-offs between sectors. Such efforts support long term water-food-energy security and a transition to a green economy.
The Task Force brings together the concerned sectors representing the Parties and non-Parties to guide and oversee the assessment work.
