About the Gas Centre

In 1994 the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the UNECE, which comprises 56 member countries in North America, Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, launched a technical cooperation programme - the Gas Centre to assist governments and gas companies in their efforts to create more decentralized and market-based gas industries.

Today the Gas Centre is a platform for engagement between governments and gas industry across the world.  The programme is extra-budgetary and is financed by gas companies, state-owned and private, from Europe, the CIS countries and the Mediterranean Basin. Its membership is open to the gas companies of all regions and other stakeholders in the gas industry, representing all segments of the natural gas chain from source to use.
