Cleaner Electricity Production
The Group of Experts on Cleaner Electricity Production from Fossil Fuels is a subsidiary body of the Committee on Sustainable Energy (CSE) that focuses on activities that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-fired electricity generation. These activities are developed and implemented with the active participation of UNECE member States, representatives from the energy and financial sectors and civil society, independent experts and the academia.

UNECE member States adopt recommendations on Carbon Capture and Storage on the road to the Paris Climate Conference: UNECE member States agreed on recommendations to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on how Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and CCS for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) should be treated in a Post-Kyoto Protocol Agreement. The agreement was made on 20 November during the annual meeting of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy held in Geneva (19-21 November). The UNECE Executive Secretary has submitted the recommendations to the UNFCCC secretariat for further action. UNECE Press Release of 25 November 2014

UNECE and CIS Electric Power Council sign MoU in Baku: on 25 April 2014 at the 45th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council in Baku, UNECE and the CIS Electric Power Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU was signed by UNECE Deputy Executive Secretary Andrey Vasilyev and th Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak.
