Global round table on PRTRs

7 - 8 November 2018

The third Global Round Table on PRTRs will be held on 7 - 8 November 2018 in Geneva (Palais des Nations), back to back with the sixth meeting of the Working Group of the Parties to the Protocol on PRTRs (9 November 2018). The event is organised under the auspices of UNECE and OECD, in cooperation with UNITAR and UNEP. The round table will take stock of successes and challenges in implementing the Protocol on PRTRs and establishing PRTR systems in different countries to date. The outcomes of the event will help to guide future activities towards implementation of new PRTRs and enhancement of existing PRTRs.

The above meetings are open to representatives of UN Member States as well as stakeholders, such as intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, industry, academic institutions, members of the public and experts.

Please ensure while registering online that you provide us with your contacts (e.g. post address, phone number, email address) which can be made publicly available through the list of participants.

Participants requiring a personal invitation letter for visa purposes should click on the “visa required” option and register for the meeting as early as possible, taking into account the period required to obtain the visa.

Financial support
Limited funds are available to support delegates from countries with economies in transition, eligible for financial support, NGOs and invited speakers. Participants who are applying for financial support should register as soon as possible, but before 21 September 2018 through this link

Representatives of Governments should submit the completed financial support request form to the secretariat by e-mail (public.participation@un.org), indicating in the subject line “Country name/organization - financial support request” before the same date – 21 September 2018. Kindly note that financial support request would be considered only after submission of duly filled in financial support request form and online registration through the link mentioned above.

NGO and other participants requesting financial support should indicate in the comments box: “financial support requested” and briefly describe their expertise relevant to the subjects to be considered by the meetings, while registering online before the same date – 21 September 2018.

Participants who are not applying for financial support are requested to register online before 25 October 2018 through this link

Practical information
Wireless internet is available in all meeting rooms. Kindly note that electrical power plugs and sockets are unique to Switzerland within the UNECE region (type J, three-pin, 230 V, 50 Hz), and respectively require an adaptor, though slim two-pin plugs (type C) will fit. In addition, several closed meetings, including the meeting of the OECD Working Group on PRTRs (expert group) will be held during the “International PRTR week”. Information regarding these meetings will be sent to the members of the relevant bodies.
