In response to the stream of recent corporate scandals, including Enron, Worldcom and Parmalat and their damaging economic and financial consequences, the UNECE Working Party on Industry and Enterprise Development will host a Round Table on Pressing Corporate Governance Issues during its annual session on Thursday, 12 February beginning at 3:15 p.m. in Room VII of the Palais des Nations. The aim of the Round Table is to review the pressing corporate governance issues as well as different approaches in addressing causes and consequences of recent corporate scandals in a market-oriented framework. Both responses on the corporate level as well as possible government measures including international coordination will be discussed. Panellists and delegates will be invited to share their views on corporate governance trends, causes of the recent corporate failures and their economic and financial consequences.
