A new Deputy Executive Secretary joins the UN/ECE
On Monday 2 November, Mrs. Danuta Huebner was appointed to the post of Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE).
Mrs. Huebner, a national of Poland, has a Doctorate in economics from the Warsaw School of Economics. Her professional qualifications cover extensive teaching and research experience including research under a Fullbright grant at the University of Berkeley in the United States. In addition, she has held a number of key positions in the government: as Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in charge of, inter alia, relations with international organizations and integration with the European Union; as State Secretary for European Integration and; most recently, as the Minister in the President's office.
Mrs. Huebner has also written numerous publications and articles on national and international economic issues.
Mrs. Huebner replaces Mrs. Dunja Pastizzi-Ferencic who retired last year.
