The first meeting of the Preparatory Committee was held on 12-13 July, 2007, in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting took place in the Palais des Nations, Salle VIII.

Preparatory Committee

In preparation to the UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing, an open-ended intergovernmental Preparatory Committee was formed with the nominated delegates from the Member States of UNECE. The main objective of the meeting was to decide upon the content and modalities of the Conference, including the agenda, the background documents, and the draft political declaration. The Preparatory Committee would also serve as the drafting committee for the Political Declaration that the Conference is expected to adopt.

In its first ad hoc meeting after the PrepCom session on 13 July, the Bureau specified the work plan on drafting the ministerial declaration.
