Objective

To strengthen subregional economic cooperation and integration among countries with economies in transition, with special emphasis on those participating in the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

Enhanced knowledge of best practices and guidelines related to economic integration issues, particularly those covered by SPECA

(ii) Percentage of participants affirming that capacity building activities carried out in the framework of the Partnership for Economics Education and Research Support (PEERS) contributed to strengthening of economic research institutes of SPECA participating countries

Main activities

1.

Providing policy advice and organising workshops on issues of regional cooperation covered by SPECA, as well as on financial and regulatory issues dealt with by the subprogramme

2.

Providing support to the organization of SPECA Governing Council and Coordinating Committee meetings as well as SPECA Economic Forums

3.

Providing support to economic research institutes of SPECA participating countries in the framework of PEERS
