 Introduction

INTERSOL was created by the “Association Interchimie”. Unlike its previous editions, INTERSOL 2003 hosts not only the Seminar on Analysis, Methodology of Treatment and Remediation of Contaminated Soils and Groundwater, but also an exhibition of techniques and services related to the theme of the Seminar (for possibilities to rent stalls, see page “Registration” here under).

Projects aiming at the cleanup of contaminated sites in central and east European transition economies will be presented at a ‘project fair’, in an attempt to create partnerships for their implementation. ‘INTERSOL 2003’ thus reflects the growing concern with soil and groundwater pollution, which has also found other expressions in international work – like in the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants. Organization of the congress is once again entrusted to “Interchimie”.

The seminar will consider the following programme:

  • Contaminated soils and groundwater treatment

  • Problems of contaminated soils and sites in the context of land use planning

  •  Protection of water resources and management of contaminated sites

  • Evaluation of human and environmental risks.
