Telework: Challenges and Opportunities for Women

On 17-18 January 2002, in Warsaw, Poland, the International Seminar on: "Telework: Challenges and Opportunities for Women" was jointly organised by the UNECE, Polish Ministry of Economy and the Center for the Advancement of Women Foundation (CAW) from Warsaw.

This event met growing interest on rapidly developing professional and business opportunities offered by broadly understood e-work. Over 100 participants from Belorus, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Switzerland, representing international organisations, governmental agencies, private sector and NGOs, discussed these issues focusing on, but not limiting themselves to gender perspective. The idea of this seminar was born two years ago in Warsaw, in the Center for the Advancement of Women, non-governmental organisation dealing with economic and social problems of women during the transition period.

Thanks to the  UwNECE expertise in the area of ICT and significant financial contribution of the UN NGO Working Group on Women in the UNECE Region, from Geneva, as well as of the other sponsors, representatives of NGOs from five countries in transition economies could participate in the meeting.  [Documents]
