UNECE
cooperates closely with the Geneva-based NGOs community,
especially the NGO Working Group on Women in the UNECE region.
The Group is part of the NGO Committee on the Status of
Women in Geneva, which is a substantive Committee of the Conference of Non-Governmental
Organisations in Consultative Status with the United Nations
(CONGO).
The
NGO Committee substantively contributed to the success of
the Regional Beijing +5 meeting (Geneva, 2000) organised
by the UNECE. Since then regular meetings and joint initiatives
are held to monitor the implementation of UN policies on
gender equality.
The
recent initiative included the Workshop on
Telework: Challenges and Opportunities for Women, organised
by the UNECE, Polish Ministry of Economy and the Center
for the Advancement of Women Foundation (CAW) from Warsaw.
