Accreditation of NGOs

[Русский]
UNECE Regional Preparatory Meeting for the
10-year Review of Implementation of the
Beijing Platform for Action.

Two types of NGOs are automatically accredited:

  1. those NGOs with consultative status to the ECOSOC; and
  2. those which were officially accredited to the ECE Regional Preparatory Meeting for Beijing +5 (Geneva, January 2000) and/or to the Beijing Conference.

These NGOs are requested to send a letter by 15 November 2004 to the ECE secretariat, expressing their intention to attend the meeting and providing the name(s) of their representative(s). For NGOs with activities worldwide, nomination of representatives should be restricted to those who cover countries (or groups of countries) of the ECE region in their respective organizations.

Other NGOs which would like to participate in the meeting are requested to complete an Application Form to be filled and returned by 15 October 2004, and provide information on their organisation and activities to the ECE secretariat. The requests will be screened according to the following criteria:

  1. the NGOs should be based in the ECE region, with activities at the regional, sub-regional or national level;
  2. their activities should relate directly to at least one of the areas covered by the agenda of the Meeting; and
  3. they should be legally registered as NGOs and have an established constituency.

The list of NGOs, compiled according to the above criteria will be eventually submitted to the Commission for accreditation.
