UNRSF Webinar on potential impact of Covid-19 on road safety

24 - 24 July 2020

via VTC

ROAD SAFETY AT THE TIME OF COVID-19

Covid-19 has shown us a different normal - in many places around the world we have witnessed a reduced use of cars and motorized vehicles and more walking and cycling. As many countries are reopening their economies, we simply cannot go back to business as usual. Road traffic injuries remains the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years and ninety-percent of road traffic deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.

Five months after the Stockholm Declaration where the international community committed to reduce road deaths and injuries by 50% by 2030, bringing road safety to the top of the political agenda remains crucial to avoid these continued human tragedies.

The webinar "An opportunity to build back better: the potentially transformative impact of Covid-19 on road safety in low- and middle-income countries" was hosted by the moderator Femi Oke on the 24th of July 2020.
