Forest Products Markets and Forest Sector Workforce in the Balkans

8 - 10 December 2015

Podgorica, Montenegro

Group work with H-form method.

The workshop brought together 30 experts from the Balkans and Central Asia and Caucasus (UNECE/FAO UNDA project on Sustainable Forest Management for Greener Economies in the Caucasus and Central Asia) to discuss, exchange experiences, map out the needs for capacity building as well as formulate recommendations for the future work on forest product markets and forest sector workforce. This meeting gave background information for a study paper on forest sector workforce.

The workshop was supported by the UNECE/FAO Team of Specialists on Forest Products Markets, and ILO/UNECE/FAO Team of Specialists on Green Jobs in the Forest Sector. The workshop languages (with interpretation) were English, Montenegrin and Russian.

This workshop will bring an update of the situation of the forest products markets in the Balkans, and search information on the trends related to forest sector workforce. What are the challenges and opportunities particularly for this region? What can the neighbouring countries learn from each other? What are the major trends and driving forces in the region? Where are we now and how do we move forward?

The workshop takes place at TA Congress for Hotel Nikic, address Kralja Nikole bb, 81000 Podgorica. It is located in the center of the town, few minutes walking distance from the main city square.
